Labor support for Police and Community Youth Clubs

Labor is pleased to continue to support the 12 PCYC Clubs around Tasmania. We will work with the Clubs and PCYC Association to make sure they have the resources to meet the ever rising community demands.

Labor will renew the MOU between Department of Police and Emergency Management and TAPCYC to include Clubs outside the main city center and that all stakeholders are committed to tackling youth crime issues with early intervention programs like Project Booyah.

Labor will provide additional funding to support the employment of more workers in PCYCs statewide in acknowledgement of the important work they do providing a wide range of sporting and recreational activities, health and welfare and outreach programs for youth in an aim to reduce crime by providing positive relationships between young people and police.

Cost: $1.4 million over four years
