Regional Development Unit

The Coordinator General has been criticised for only looking after the big end of town. Meanwhile regional Tasmania is being left behind by the Liberal Government.

Labor will abolish the role of Coordinator General to fund a new Regional Development Unit.

Regional Development Officers will identify economic and job opportunities, facilitate investment and provide a direct link between businesses and Government.

Senior staff within the Department of Economic Growth and Regional Development’s Launceston office will be responsible for trade and investment attraction, along with coordination of regional development activities.

Tender Support Unit

Too many Tasmanian businesses are missing out on government work. It is clear the Liberals have broken their promise to “buy locally”.

Labor will re-establish the Industrial Supplies Office to make sure Tasmanian small to medium businesses can participate in applying for work with
the Government.
